PELHAM TENNIS ASSOCIATION (in collaboration with the Town of Pelham) OFFICIAL GUIDELINES 2009
Purpose of the Pelham Tennis Association 1. To provide Pelham Residents interested in playing tennis with the opportunity to use the tennis facility at Lions Centennial Park at a modest fee. 2. To generate funds towards the upkeep and future development of the facility and reduce such burdens upon the taxpayer. 3. To provide the opportunity to develop through committees a tennis program for all ages and abilities that meets needs and aspirations. 4. To provide an organization that fosters community spirit, social activity and pride in the facility. 5. To protect the facility from vandalism and improper use.
Features of membership in the Pelham Tennis Association The use of the Centennial Park Tennis Courts during hours designated by the Town of Pelham Recreation Committee.
Membership and voting right in the Pelham Tennis Association 1. The opportunity to serve on the various committees of the Pelham Tennis Association. 2. Participation in tennis-related activities as evolved by the Committee of the Pelham Tennis Association - such as: round robins, tournaments, tennis clinics, social events and use of the Practice Court. 3. A guest is welcome up to three visits but must be accompanied by the sponsoring member and must pay guest fees.
Ground Rules for all users of Centennial Park Tennis Courts 1. These courts are intended for the use of residents of the Town of Pelham. 2. All users must follow the direction of the Court Supervisor in charge. 3. Users, not members of P.T.A., must pay court fees. 4. All players must wear proper tennis shoes. 5. Only tennis shall be played on these courts. 6. Accepted tennis etiquette will be observed by all players at all times. 7. When players are waiting, only doubles shall be played. 8. All users must sign the court schedule board. Play shall be on a first-come, first-served basis and according to the time module in effect (usually 45 minutes). 9. Junior members shall have full rights to two tennis courts and the practice court until 6 pm on week-days when adult members shall have preference. 10. The P.T.A. Executive reserves the right to set aside one or more courts for special purposes such as instruction, tournaments, school use, or occasional bookings by groups. Revised January 2009
